Now this maybe should just say "people" instead of "poor people" but I find them especially silly if you can't afford it.
Disclaimer: I'm a cheapskate, so many people might not agree with me that it's a big deal, but I think it is.

I know people that don't have a lot of money and they:
    • Get their car cleaned for $30 a pop
    • Buy out of season fruit and vegetables with no regards for the price
    • Buy lots and lots of presents for other people, even people that would never get them presents
    • Have a car loan
    • Buy fast fashion
    • Take toll roads when free roads take (almost) the same time
It's just weird to me and I don't think I'll ever get it. I know people that do these but can't afford to pay their electricity bills.

    - Useless online app subscriptions
    - Ubereats
    - Meal kit subscriptions
    - Lottery tickets
    - Dormant gym subscriptions
    - Personal trainers (99% people don’t need one)
    - Alcohol
    - Vitamins (Australians are vitamin junkies - highest consumption in the world with no proof they actually work)
    - Phones on plans
    - Cafes (personally I think only business people or retirees should eat at cafes)
    - Disposable fashion (jet loads of ASOS, Boohoo parcels arrive in Australia on a weekly basis)
    - DIY spend at Bunnings (if it’s urgent, call a tradesmen else it doesn’t need done)

Well, it might really become mainstream. Council rates, car insurance, home insurance, water bills might have after pay options sometime in the near future, don’t rule it out….

When you say your friends are ‘poor’, can you be more specific about their after tax income?

Poor people with many kids, unable to buy food or pay rent, but insist on keeping 2 dogs, 2 cats, or both!

You take that back right now!!!

That's one thing I do waste money on, power tools, love them! I probably spend at least $1k a year on bits and pieces. Maybe more.

Going into debt to pay for a Wedding , honeymoon &engagement & wedding rings bought retail- & that's not confined to "poor people" as many on huge salaries do the same- a bit pathetic.

Caravans. That only take up space in the back yard. If they get used it is only for about 2 weeks, still need to pay site fees, cost 30% more in fuel and takes 30% longer to go anywhere so they spend more, loose hours that could have been earning money instead of spending more. If the money was invested the compounding earnings could be more than they spend on more luxurious , hassle free and rewarding experiences.
