Are you saying Happy Holidays or Happy Downtime which is a new saying apparently, instead of Merry Xmas?
I mean Happy Downtime does sound a bit rude, I hate to walk up to someone and say that.
I had a friend say "Happy Holidays" to me on the phone yesterday and I really had to tell him it sounded awful.
I dont believe your offending anyone by saying Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas to all on here and a safe new year.
    :)

If it didn't offend people; why has Merry Christmas morphed into this ridiculous "Happy Holidays" theme?

Every single person I know has always said Merry Christmas, and will always say it..it is an Australian tradition going back long before I was born, and no-on has ever thought twice about it.

Merry Christmas everyone, and I hope your 2017 is extremely healthy and prosperous.

In Italy, with the nature of the language is that everything has a gender and is not pc, they've used 'Buone Feste' to cover the Christmas and New Year feast days.

    Bah humbug! sums it up

In around 2000, I emailed colleagues with "Merry Christmas" and someone got so offended that she confronted me. She's happy to celebrate Christmas but doesn't like the phrase. She's a big woman and I wasn't prepared to wrestle with her.

It's examples like this why I would have never been able to work in an office. I would have just told her to $%^& off.

To me I tend to read how it's spelt. Xmas sounds like a skin disease.

I think you're just scratching the surface of the jokes that could be made there.

Americans started the Happy holidays theme with a view to being politically correct. Their claim is there are many holidays this time of the year:

    St. Nikolaus Day – Dec. 6, 2016
    Bodhi Day Buddha’s Enlightenment – Dec. 8, 2016
    Santa Lucia Day – Dec. 13, 201
    Hanukkah Festival of Lights – Dec. 24, 2016 – Jan. 1, 2017
    Kwanzaa - Dec. 26, 2016 – Jan. 1, 2017
Asian New Year Buddhist – Jan. 28, 2017

    ...oh and of cause Christmas.

Say whichever you like. If someone gets offended by if you say "Merry Xmas" then stuff them. Everyone is offended by everything these days, as though their personal feelings represent the bulk of humanity

and thanksgiving and new years. I'd say we've picked it up by watching too many American TV shows.
