Attended a wedding last Saturday , received a group sms 4 days later thanking me for attending but have since decided to separate! Wedding was at least $100k + (as parents of the bride told me)

Not much shocks me in this world any more.

@fullylucky am i entitled to ask for my $300 cash gift to be handed back? :D

Better now than in 10 years plus 3 kids later. It's cheaper this way.

@Xenia very true and that's what I thought.

If you have doubts don't get married!

I think from memory you can't legally divorce for a year so they've got 361 days of separation :/ I feel your pain I've spent many post weddings/functions in Maccas drive thru. I'll take a large ugly meal over a small cute meal any day of the week.

Society places a lot of value on the wedding. Often little emphasis is placed on the marriage.

Are you sure this wedding wasn't just some kind of (anti) social media challenge to raise their profile to achieve more "likes"?

Four days is a long marriage out Mt Druitt way. What's their secret for such enduring marital bliss?

My good friend is a celebrant. I asked her this question a few years ago. She had a husband call her the next day and ask her if she could destroy the paperwork. As a celebrant she is under an obligation to send off the paperwork. Apparently the wife got caught with the best man at some point between the "I do" and the end of the reception.

    No receipt, no refund. lol.

I think the ye olde etiquette is that if you give an engagement gift and they don't get married they have to return it. In medieval England marriages never fail, so not sure if there is a rule for return of wedding gifts.

Lesson for the future - give the gift in installments. $50 on invitation, $50 on kissing the bride, $50 on proof of consummation (that is between the bride and groom - not the groom and one of the bridesmaids), etc

Is a white tracksuit formal wedding attire for a bride in MD?

Many years ago a flatmate was getting married.

He spent the night before his wedding off sampling other honeypots. The bride's family was frantically trying to call him. Pre mobile phones, we got calls every hour through the night.

I don't know how the marriage went. I didn't really care to keep in touch.
