If you were to go for a 3 day long weekend Driving holiday away from Sydney, where would you go?

    Criteria:
Looking for answers other than Central Coast
Don't want too many hours of driving.

*Partner is thinking Southern highlands. Are the Wombeyan Caves worth seeing?
    What else?

I suppose a Train travel holiday isn't out of the question, but we took a train to Melbourne once.... Never again!!!

I was gonna suggest Central Coast.
It’s not really too many driving hours to Central Coast, only an hour and half.

There are so many options - so - what would you like to do? Beach, wine, hiking, beach again, culture ... ?

South Coast - 5 hours-ish. Merimbula/Bega have some great oysters etc

Otherwise Newcastle (never do a night cruise on the harbour... Novacastrians don't turn on their lights to save $$).

Bega is a bit far but Norooma and Dalmaney is awesome.

I did that a couple of weeks ago and already itching to go again.

A few weeks ago spent a couple of days at Jervis Bay. Stayed at the Huskisson Hotel. Can be a bit on and off with service but OK for a short stay then I'm not overly fussy in these places.

    Hi all,
Looks like we'll end up in the southern Highlands, but with the car we will be free to drive around :)

    Go west, Gockie.
I had an Airbnb guest looking for a three day drive. They were from the UK and were keen to see something less coastal - they had been there, done that.
I told them to head west and have lunch at Luera and then spend a night at Jenolan Caves at Caves House and then take the Oberon Road to Bathurst and spend two nights there making a day trip to Hill End. They loved it. (He especially loved it because he's into motor sport and didn't realise till he got there that the Mt Panorama circuit at bathurst is a public road.)

3.5-4 hours drive one way (visited friends several times there)
