Actually that's a Sydney water plan, so it has all their assets.
The highlighted is likely a storm water easement

@No Probs you are going to have to wait for an internet outage in the sticks before you can beat @bob shovel on the plumbing questions.

Where is this plan from? That's the Second Syd water plan recently that's had the weird highlight around around the sewer, I think it might be the old way they did plans

Doesn't mean the is a pipe there though!

Sydney water doesn't do much storm water, councils look after the majority of it. So best bet call the council, but still call Sydney water, while you call Syd water ask about the front of your block may be a sewer easement where the dotted line is, depends on the slope of your block though.

Get a more recent plan from dial before you dig website. It may also flag up council pipes

I'll have to check that out. Haven't used it.
Those plans are very different to the others. Did you select all assets on that search?

Do a dial before you dig to see if you get council

sewer and storm water need fall( gradient or slope)
to work , they are gravity systems

so if they cant get fall to the front of the block they run to the back of the block ,to main pipes along easements

most of the time, but not all the time, services such as
    gas
    underground power
    telephone
    street lighting
    water

will run at the front of the block .....under
    nature strips
    front easement
    footpaths and roads
