Selling in Cairns - Open Homes

    Hi,

    Just a quick question for those familiar with the Cairns market:

    When engaging an agent for the sale of a house do agents usually run multiple open home's, particularly within the first few weeks? A friend is currently selling their house and the agent is not running open homes yet and is relying on private appointments only.

    Seems odd to me, as here in Brisbane open homes are run aggressively, particularly at the start of a sale campaign.

    The proactive agents I know of have a least one open a week, sometimes 2 with a weekday evening and weekend day.

    I know of a couple of good agents that have 1-2 and sometimes 3 opens a week until the property is sold.

    Some agents operate under the "Jenman system", and they advocate not doing open houses, may be one of them ? Obviously we dont know all the circumstances but otherwise, unless the neighbours are hosting raves all day sat, sun and wed evening, it seems crazy not to
