I currently have 3 properties in Qld with combined land value slightly below the land tax threshold.

I am seeking to buy a forth, but want to avoid paying land tax on the total land values, as I will then exceed the land tax threshold.

Qld is also considering changing their land tax rules to include the land value of properties you hold in other states.

so even if I buy my next property in SA, I could still be hit by Qld land tax.

I have heard that you can buy property in a trust but not sure what type of trust, what the costs are, what implications there are and whether buying in a trust could avoid the cumulative land tax that you will pay by owning other properties.

Anyone familiar with trusts and whether they can help avoid land tax?
