Only heard about this being in existence today: South Australia’s economic priorities. A place where people and business thrive - Investment attraction agency delivers for SA

Reading through the blurb, looks like they've done a few successful initiatives so far with a few interesting things to come in the future.

They're essentially promoting Adelaide as a good place to do business, which in turn drives dollars in teh economy, employment, etc. The below was copied from their website:

With access to a skilled labour pool, one of the world’s most liveable cities and competitive office and labour prices, South Australia offers an attractive, profitable location for financial and business services operations.

South Australia has expertise across a number of financial services functions including banking and deposit taking entities, funds management, insurance and general financial management and all the major national financial institutions as well as the big four consulting firms have offices in our State.

Our capital city, Adelaide, is ranked the 5th most liveable city in the world and has the shortest work commute times and the lowest residential property prices of all Australian capital cities with a population exceeding 1 million people.

South Australia’s high quality, low cost of living and a stable secure business environment combines to create a highly retainable workforce for businesses, providing business stability by minimising staff turnover and re-training costs.

Our State offers access to a deep and well- established talent pool with Adelaide home to long-established and world-class universities producing high numbers of graduates within finance, commerce, mathematics, computer engineering and law.

Low carbon generation is also providing the State with a competitive advantage in the form of a clean, green based economy. Financial and businesses services companies which value working in an innovative, sustainable city should consider coming to Adelaide to capitalise on this advantage.

Profitability-wise South Australia is punching well above its weight, offering labour costs nine percent below the Australian average. The Adelaide office market continues to be one of the most affordable CBD markets when it comes to setting up business and leasing office space.

Every state should be doing this, not just promote competing internationally but nationally as well.

There's a Federal Dept, every State has one, and many major councils too (Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast etc). Most smaller councils will have an Economic Development officer.

Seems these days every city/town/village has a listing in several different prospectuses -worth checking out for upcoming infrastructure and priority areas but highly volatile and subject to change.
