No they are not allowed to open by law. Sunday supermarket hours are 11-5. Unless you go to an independant like I do eg Foodland which are open 8am-9pm 7 days

They dont elect. Theres a Shop Trading Hours Act 1977 that specifies what hours everyone must adhere to. Just scrap it and let business owners and store managers do what works best for them, imo

So in regards to trading hours... SA is at least 26 years behind Sydney.

If shopping hours were deregulated, the world will end, retailers will go bust, chickens will cease laying, cows will stop lactating, the curtains will fade faster, shopping centre rents will increase by 1/6 (to factor in extra usage), non-centre rents will follow suit, asset owners/managers will get a better return on their asset due to greater utilisation, retail workers will complain, shop owner's will complain (more than normal) etc.

What about an owner/operator cafe, clothes, gifts or hairdresser or similar shop in a smallish shopping strip or cafe precinct - not a shopping mall; surely they have the authority to open or close at whatever hours they wish?
I see local businesses around where I live which are closed on a Monday, or Tuesday etc for whatever reasons.

I expect being closed whenever you choose would be fine, the Act would stipulate when you can't be open.

Lack of policy, cheesy stunts/ads when he was attempting to convert disaffected voters it just looked like he couldn't understand their pain. At all of the leader's debates he performed poorly. Had too many candidates because he got manipulated by the polls into thinking he actually had a chance of becoming the Premier, hence him having soo many candidates run for the lower house...in the end people just saw through him. At one stage polls predicted SA Best would achieve 30%+ of the primary vote. Instead they achieved 13%!!!!

Nick X had 20 years in politics. For considerable periods of time he essentially had control of the senate federally and at state level. For all this he failed to achieve anything substantial. Pokies wise he completely failed to reduce the number of pokies let alone eliminate them. He's been blaming everything on someone else for 20 years so no one should be surprised with him doing it now blaming the hotel industry and Lib/Lab for their election campaigns.

Policy wise in this election Nick offered very little and this was demonstrated when he underestimated the health budget by $2.3 billion. Nick failed in this election as he failed to understand the core issues and most importantly present solutions on how to address voter’s concerns. Ironically his legacy will be of cheap stunts, bandwagon politics, and lack of serious policy. Has he ever developed a policy, tabled it, got it legislated and then implemented it!? He's been the ultimate gravy train politician and will now retire with a nice parliamentary pension.

SA does not have a senate.

Maybe he'll have another go at the senate next election. He's still young.

Independents or small parties don't really achieve anything in their own right. They block and modify legislation. They agitate. They draw attention to issues the majors won't.

Even one of Australia's largest minor parties, the Democrats could only "keep the *******s honest". That's what independents and minor parties do - if you vote for them expecting wide ranging reform then you are delusional.

He won't be receiving a parliamentary defined benefits pension from the commonwealth. I'm not familiar with SA's pension/super system but I doubt he will get one from there either.

Are these the same Liberals who had a swing of 7.2% against them?

Yes... well, projected -7.2% swing. The majors did not do well at this election:

    Projected Swing
    Liberal Party: -7.2%
    Labor Party: -2.0%
    The Greens: -2.2%

SA Results - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

But then the Liberal Party had a +3.1% swing in the last election and still lost. So I guess the swing is not very important.

Nick picked up a lot of votes, but not enough for seats. These minor parties are on the nose with the public and will fizzle out. The next election there will be very interesting.

The next election will hinge on whether the Libs do a good job. If not, they will be booted like Newman after one term in QLD.

The winners are usually the better marketers Whether they are better at the job or not.

You only seem to use one semi colon per post now compared to several under your previous forum name?

I don't think there are enough demand in practice for shops to open on Sunday mornings to make a profit.

The only place I can see that can work is in city area but they would need to build tons of apartments around it and fill it with people. If that is what you really want you may as well live in Sydney or Melbourne.

Adelaideans generally doesn't want their city to be another Sydney or Melbourne in general. The people who want to, just moved there instead.
