Libs tipped to form government in South Australia. Why the mood for change?

Been labour here for 16 yrs and is pretty obvious things arent going as well as they could be.

The count is still happening but libs are a fair way in front at the moment which is an amazing occasion for our state. A change of the guard is an excellent opportunity for things to go a little differently in the future.

I'm far removed from SA politics, but I think the feeling is SA could use a change.

When did the South Australians get the right to vote? Aren't they still a colonial outpost of Van Diemans Land?

It is good to see Liberals winning there because Labor has been there for 16 years and too much deadwood and highest unemployment. Hope Steven Marshall will kick start the economy there, similar to what Barry O'Farrell did to NSW in 2011 after many years of Labor government.

Note the connection of Barry and South Australia. ;)

Its the general feeling that the liberals couldn't possibly do any worse so why not give them a shot at it

The state of SA has either damned expensive power or no power at all...

I think Liberal is planning to construct the SA-NSW Power connector, that should help them ......

Liberals will form a majority Government in SA. So far they have a predicted result of winning 24 seats outright out of 47. Also of note is that 2 out of 3 of the predicted Independents (Troy Bell Mount Gambier former LNP & Geoff Brock Port Pirie) will also throw their support behind the Liberals, which would allow them to easily form Government even if 1 or 2 of the predicted 24 seats doesn't eventuate their way.

Nick Xenophon/SA Best performed poorly. Initially polls had support for Xenephon at 30%+ but he failed to win the seat of Hartley and atm it looks as though SA Best has only managed to achieve 14% of the primary vote. Nick Xenephon is now officially out of Parliament, which is a shame but he has himself to blame because he severely mismanaged his election campaign/strategy.

On a property related note if NSW & Tasmania are anything to go by SA should expect a property boom;)

I haven't been able to watch it closely, but how did he mismanage the campaign/strategy?

Hmmm.... sounds good! I actually like Adelaide as a city. It's just that the economy/business environment didnt sound so strong and you had the power issues.

If there's any reason it could change, now is the time. Ps. Can they start opening shops early on Sundays and late on weekends? Because it's bizarre not being able to go into a supermarket and shop at times that a normal Sydneysider does.

Not in SA, but listening on ABC radio to a few comments from voters and the main one was that Labor make the same promises every election, but never follow through.

People have had enough of "nothing" happening and decided to try something different.

Congrats to the SA ppl. Even though I'm not from SA, I think Libs coming in is a good change. Might tempt me to look at buying an IP in SA now :)

This was one of liberal's promises, to deregulate trading hours. I hope it works but it did have opposing groups
Yea that sounds about right. One of the themes of the campaign was change
I think thats a smart move. Its been heating up anyways, but if this helps instill some consumer and business confidence then great things could happen.

my worry is that they might turn out to be a "LINO"....Liberal In Name Only...like what we have with our Federal Government currently.
