I'll take it! First positive article I've seen for years!

Spoke to a local agent yesterday and he reckons they are still 1-2 years off any recovery.

I'm just spending a couple of nights on the coast near Rocky. This place seems to have alot going for it lifestyle wise. Perfect climate and quiet beaches, nice restaurants. Anyone know how Rocky is doing? Lots of houses on the market and close to the beach looking cheap. May be worth a punt on something cheap and close to the beach? I haven't checked vacancy rates though.

Do you mean Yeppon or Emu Park?

We're in Yeppon (thanks @geoffw ) but both look good as an outsider.

@pinkboy are you in Mackay? Visited for the first time this week and thought it would be an amazing place to live :)

I love Yeppoon as some time out. I used to go to boarding school there so know the place pretty well. Still have friends who live in the area. Was there in July for Netball. Great place to chill.

Yes, I live in Mackay. Pretty much born and bred here. I do love it here even though we have had thoughts of moving - it always seems to be just 'home'.

Things are starting to turn here too. Coal price is up, so not too long until we see the place pretty active again. Wont be like the infrastructure boom, but the lack of maintaining plant and equipment over the last 4 years will see us have at least a good spike in work short - medium term.

That's fantastic for Mackay. Seriously beautiful area,; more jobs has to be icing on the cake.

Wow, sub-2% would be a massive turnaround. I'll check the YIP magazine databank tonight. Am curious about what it says.
