Thank you both. At the moment it's like dabbing acid on an abrasion. Not something I suggest anyone try.

This morning I opened the pathology results I received yesterday.

Over a year ago the PSA level was 6.5. Before treatment it was 26. The latest is 0.07 so hopefully the oncologist has good news for me next week.

Why thank you, good sir. All I had to do was to lie on a hard table for 30 minutes while a big machine did its thing.

The side effects though are something you would not wish on your best enemy or worst friend. To be honest it has been a both physically and mentally taxing three months. Two attendances at ED and subsequently a day procedure under GA were involved as well as attendances at medical appointments.

Things are slowly improving fortunately and I am lucky I have support.

My father had (non-robotic) prostate surgery 20+ years ago. Now 86yo, his PSA levels are slowly rising again and the oncologist is worried they may have to do something if he lives to 110.

I wouldn't put it past the old bugger - he's harder to kill than a cockroach.

Thank you. Of course, what my experiences have been only relate to me and maybe atypical.

This thread has been worthwhile if it gets males thinking and actually doing something in respect of their health.

Work from home is one thing. But an oncologist practicing over the radio is another.

Truer than you may think. He's based in Melbourne. I've not actually met him. Had one Zoom meeting though.

It's taken close to five months but I'm chuffed I am very close to full recovery from the side effects of radiation therapy.

I admit at one stage I was extremely despondent* but the support I received, including from my GP and the treating specialists, assisted greatly in that regard.

You cannot pre-determine who will have side-effects or the extent of them so don't allow my experience deter any male from getting checked or receiving necessary treatment.

    * If you would like to discuss whether passing blood clots via one's willy is a painful experience feel free to start that discussion.

That's good to read Satay-King and a positive result ..
The other item is support - The second time I sat down with specialist and he informed me I had cancer as it makes you sit back in the chair for a few seconds - then he explained the procedure as I consider myself very lucky ..
With the passing blood part and the leg bag for 10 days till removal would have to be one of the most painful experiences I've ever had..
I go back in a few weeks for the PSA Level testing then hopefully every 6 months and apart from the robotics incisions scars which are good when out camping gold prospecting as I tell the other metal detectors people the scars are from being abducted from a UFO..
