I have a collection of Akubras - a couple of fedoras, a trilby and my bush hat. (& a few more for the kids).

I'm up to my 10th pair of RM's. First pair I ever owned were from Pony Club when I was around 7. My oldest "worn" pair are close to 22 years old and they've been resoled twice with 2 or 3 elastic replacements. They've survived many a BnS/bush races and lived to tell the tale.
I'm one of those with apparently no taste that own a pair of emu skin boots, as well as 2 of the snake skin print pairs (chestnut and black)...
Also, I have a pair grandad purchased in the late 60's/early 70's that could quite easily be resurrected.

Best place to buy them is the Toowoomba store - they sometimes have pairs for half price or better. My wife's knee high RM's are made in similar quality to the men's. She also has a pair of Craftsmen's that won't die.
Latest pair I bought were a desert boot style, and they weren't great. Worst pair I've owned were the steel toe gardener ones - I think both were made in Mongolia or some other far flung country.

    Pic is of today's pair.

To answer the OP's question - they are well and truly worth the asking price IMO.

@Icarus - those shoes don't go with the Huega Onterra carpet tiles ;)

Thank you all for your advice and def sold on buying a pair. The other issue that I can think of, is a mate advised that his podiatrist advised him not to wear RM Williams as he has high arch feet, which unfortunately I have as well.

I thought it was a podiatrist's job to make inserts for shoes?

The Cattle King is an awesome read, still one of my favourites alongside AB Facey A Fortunate Life

I agree, but apparently it was affecting his achilles heel even with the inserts. Will find out if it's a go ahead for me and keen to purchase a pair of the Sydney boots.

Just bought the RM Williams Sydney boot online and wearing the belt as well. Hopefully, it's going to last for the next 10 or so years!

Thank you everyone for their assistance with this.

Hi guys, just letting people know that there is a 30% off sale for all leather goods in the RM store but def not the boots.

I've already purchased another belt, wallet and probably another two more belts. Thinking of buying a bag as well.

Cheers for the book tip. Reading Kidman at the moment, Tom Coles old diaries and stories of the early Territory cattlemen is a great read.

It’s a different place with no resemblance to the life most Australians lead.

Do they ever have the boots on sale? I bought a black pair for work (despite being fitted at their store, they have proved to be a bit tight, mainly the elastic around the ankles but that's another story) and want a second brown pair for casual.

I have 3 pairs of RM boots. They wear well compared to many other brands I've had. DFO stores can be a great way to get a pair for about $300 or a little less sometimes. Their jeans are very good quality too.

My RMW moleskins are 20 odd yrs old, just broken in and still going strong.

(I blame my QS lecturer for putting me onto them years earlier).

    How are the boots?

I've just done Xmas speed shopping and picked up a pair in town. :D

The Sydney boots are pretty good but I can't really compare it to the other RM boots! Interested to purchase the comfort Stockmans in black very soon. I have rolled my ankle twice already but I blame it on the surface of the Sydney Boots as it's abit slippery.
