Pity the poor mothers and fathers who drop their young children off and never ever see them again..

Because they have closed the station many people can't even get home. Presumably though in this mobile phone world most of those will be able to call family.

Sad for the kids. It would be crazy to be anywhere there is large crowds gathered in this current climate. I get paranoid just going into the city these days.

    RIP.

What is the world coming to? Next on the list, suicide bomber hits preschool. Something drastic needs to be done. This is not targeted at anyone, only an attempt to kill as many people as possible.

You can honor those lost by not being scared.

Fight back by not changing what you do or how you do it.

Fear is the ultimate lever pulled by terrorists. Do not cave onto that fear.

The angrier and more frightened we get, the stronger they become.

Politics and property investing probably do not go hand in hand and I doubt there will be too many people venting their thoughts here. If you go on Facebook or social media there are lots of angry and scared people right now.

I'm from Manchester originally and a lot of my family live nearby. My sister-in-law was at the same venue 2 nights prior. It's scary when it's that close to home and certainly puts my frantic IP hunting into perspective.
It's appalling to think of the losses, particularly those who have lost children.

that's what those little girls would have been told well before they went to the concert.

    it's becoming routine now

many innocent people killed doing day to day things, 1 or 2 terrorists responsible
    politicians get mad
we are told security is tightening
    vigils are held,
everyone goes back to normal until the next one

Politicians keep recycling the usual heartfelt (but in essence, useless) comments such as:
    • "our thoughts are with the families...." or
    • "they will never divide us..." or
    • "we strongly condemn these attacks..."
it's tough, unpopular actions that are needed. The softly softly approach is obviously not working (and never will IMHO). Unfortunately in these cases, its very much a matter of fighting fire with fire.

eg if the immediate families/acquaintances/mentors/groomers of the bombers were proven to be passive supporters or sympathisers, they would be liable for permanent deportation or a jail stint, preemptive arrests for those even flirting with the idea of committing a terrorist act, etc.

The way I see it, if terrorists knew they would put their loved ones in potential jeopardy by continuing on their path, they might reconsider.

Not sure what passive supporters or sympathisers means. But anyone helping a terrorist is currently covered by criminal sanctions (in Australia at least) - eg someone funding terrorism.

Where do you deport someone to who was born in the country where the act occurred, as this perp was?

Anyone planning a terror attack is subject to criminal sanctions. By flirting do you mean taking that even further?

Are you proposing that family of terrorists should face criminal sanctions for the acts of their relatives?

If born in the country, then its jail.
Yes, the powers and ease of arrests broadened. We've had first timers who didn't cause an offence previously and not on the radar go from nothing to suicide/shootings. It's not only the ones on surveillance/previously charged that are the problem.

If proven to be complicit in any way, shape or form, then yes. If not, then of course not.

There are no full proof measures but clearly something more needs to be done to combat the problem. Do you have any ideas?

Not me, but many would say an eye for an eye.

Once someone is on the cops radar they're pretty much toast. I don't know what you do about those with no traceable indications of terrorist intentions.

That's pretty much how the law currently operates.

I know what won't work. But no ideas.
