So many bird references with the film. To Kill a Mockingbird, starring Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch.
The book is incredible. I don't know of any other author who has made such an impact with a single book. Very moving, very sad, but it shows there are good people in the world. Peck playing Atticus Finch is beyond words. I'd read the book and later saw the movie and it's as if the role was created for him. In 2003, Peck's portrayal of Atticus Finch was named the greatest film hero of the past 100 years by the American Film Institute.
Loved both the book and the movie and am lucky to have a signed copy. Wish it was a first edition though.
I love how ABC reporter Ben Knight gets emotional in this segment (at around 5:40), when he visits Monroeville to do a story on her. Travel to Harper Lee's hometown as Go Set a Watchman joins To Kill a Mockingbird 55 years on
I read it when I was in high school (compulsory reading in English class in SA). At that time my English wasn't good but it was certainly more interesting than some of the other compulsory English books I have read. I actually remembered the plot of the book all these years, which say something about the quality of the writing. I thought Harper Lee was a guy for many years ..... before realising it was a she .... I haven't watch the film though. Maybe worth searching and watching it on Netflix. RIP Harper Lee .....
