    Hi everyone!
We just bought an acreage and are looking for advice on which ride on mower to buy. The land is 3.8 acres and quite flat and square.
Looking for something reliable and hopefully under 6k.
There are some good deals on husqvarna ride on mower at the moment we are thinking of getting but keen to hear other opinion before we jump in.

    Cheers

You have a few options depending on your other needs in your acreage.

    1. Ride on lawn mower: just mows lawn
    2. Tractor: slashing deck for mowing, auger for fence posts/tree holes, bucket for digging/moving stuff around
    3. quad bike: slashing deck attachment for mowing, cart for moving stuff around, sprayer tank for herbicides

For 3.8 acres the quad bike might be more versatile. Though there is also the train of thought that by making one thing do many it never does them all well.

    Tractor PTO Finishing Mower
    ATV & Quad Bike Trailer
Quad Bike & ATV Weed Sprayer

I have a Kubota ZD331 that I use commercially (cost over $25k, now prob only worth $8k)
Just search for "used ride on", any of the major brand commercial mowers with under 3000 hours will suffice.
You can sit on your new 38-42" Husky for hours, or be on the veranda with a beer in 40min, there is that big a difference!

Not exactly a ride on, lol, but sheep or other grass eating animals may be an alternative method of maintaining the property grassed areas.

The one at the front certainly looks rather cute.

Yeah, don't try to "ride" one of those.....
    This isn't NZ
Try explaining it to the police after the animal rights group dob you in !
Besides, sheep eat all the things you want to keep first, grass is their last option o_O
Some people get upset when their grass gets cut :p

I feel like slapping lamb chops on a hot plate and downing a cold tooheys extra dry. Forget the mutton when there's lamb about!

    Best to ensure whatever
Zero turns will also fit within that budget if necessary.

I'd recommend a wider deck ie. 48-52 inch. Otherwise it'll get frustrating for 3.8 ac. Also look for larger engine models & think about max speed as some models can operate faster than others which can be good for larger open spaces.

Oh, don't forget to get a high back seat if you look at some of the smaller models.

It's just a little late though for a fleece Navidad.

Where all of ewes would gather at the base.
