I would say "worry" might not be the exact word. Maybe "care" or "focus" instead.

a bit of a silly question IMO .........

    "Rich" depends on your perception.

If you keep thinking about money you may be rich (or not), but you are definitely not fulfilled.

As for me, I am definitely not rich, but (by some) perhaps wealthy, but I do not yearn for more, so I guess I am happy.

As for fulfilled, I have a lot more to do, so not yet!

    Not rich be any stretch.

Though I've found because I feel responsible for financial well being, future of my family and other endeavours I want to support via wealth; I think about how to manage money and risks often.

Sometimes, I can sense others who don't have the same approach interrupt and perceive me as "thinking about money more then them".

Can't worry about other people though, have to be responsible for the wealth I steward in this life.

    My take.

When a person truly achieves a level of wealth where there is no disconnect between what they financially envision for themselves and what they actually have, their preoccupation/worries/anxieties around money will then mostly cease to exist.

Most internal turmoil is due to a disconnect between how someone imagines things outta be for them, and how they actually are. Once (if) the disconnect is no more, the anxiety around that particular issue has no more reason to exist.

Rich people over think about it, and think that 'winning' at all cost is everything.

Social businesses challenge this I think, so there is hope for us. Money ppl can't get there heads out of spreadsheets.......

I am glad I am rich without being obscenely wealthy.

If I was too rich I might become more of as ******** than I already am.

Imho 'more money' only accentuates and brings to the front the character someone already is.

I doubt anyone here is 'rich' with a net worth over $60 million (my definition of rich) but for those who have this type of coin then I'm sure they will try to preserve it best they can, just like anyone else.

So if they have a net worth of 45mil, you wouldn't consider them 'rich'?

Would you rather be rich and care about/focus on money OR be poor and worry about it?

    I know which anxiety I have ;).

Not rich by my definition. I'm talking about next level rich where you live in a mansion worth $20m+ , own 6-8 cars worth $1-2m million, charter your own flights when travelling, have full time chef, housekeeper, gardener etc. Actually my definition of truly rich is more like $100m+ . A lot of people on this forum are well off but I wouldn't say they are rich

I have a friend that’s $100m worth. Those things mentioned is pretty much their family.
They don’t seems to be obsessed with money on surface.

If you apply the 4% safe withdrawal rate to the equation, a $250,000 annual income would require an investment portfolio of $6.25 million, invested 50% each in stocks and bonds.

I'm rich Family wise--Money wise it's not that important as there is several within this site who would control above 70 million from what they have told me ..

As long as the money you have is working 24/7 and you have succeeded beyond your wildest dreams --both intellecttually and personally then just swipe the card and don't worry about the price..

For us, rich is not having to look at prices (but I still do out of habit). Having a chef, housekeeper or gardener is of no interest at all.

We honestly (yes... honestly) have no desire to have that sort of wealth and think it would be a real burden.

As @willair says, being able to just swipe the card and not worry about the price is good enough for us.

How to leave money when we are gone is another burden that we don't need to worry any more about than we already do.
