Ok my sister is building her first house. They now have a slab in place, but the developer has yet to put the retaining walls (1 metre clearance min on each side)

They are worried that the retaining walls might impact the house structure now that the slab/bricks are layed.

Will this be a problem? Or are they stressing for nothing?

Hard to know without seeing plans etc. Have they spoken to the builder and developer about this issue?

I doubt it is an issue but she should talk to the builder/ developer her concerns.

It depends on how high the developer retaining is. If it is just straight up and down then it's probably ok but if it needs to be wider at base and tier up it will be an issue

Do you know why the developer hasn't done it yet?

    • What side is it retaining? What is it's purpose?
    • How high is it?
    • What type of soil is it/angle of repose?
    • Has it been excavated already or levels changed resulting in the need to retain?
    • What's on the builder's critical path?

I'd be more worried about it not going in than the scheduling.

I wouldn't worry, it will be fine.
