Residential Hot water supply & charges

    Hi there, i currently rent (rentvestor) and was given this notice from the property agent. I'm just wondering if anyone else renting in an apartment complex has ever come across this scenario, and if so, were you really liable to pay for these charges?

    Looking at the lease agreement, it states this in regards to these charges:

    In short, yes since they are individually metered.

    However there's likely (varies per state) a time limit on it. This is probably why they've asked for Jan 2016 onward and not the prior bills.

    Yes. There's a common hws and a separate meter. AGL or whoever reads that meter. You would otherwise be paying for the gas or power to heat your own water - so no different other than the practicalities.
