merbau decking seems to be cheaper than clear pine (or the same but looks better and both seem to have very little or no knots)

gonna buy some screw and a small piece or merbau decking and see how that goes - just playing around to see my confidence with both of them

Hopefully have my choice made by monday

Merbau would be my choice over pine - pre-drill all your holes and don't try and force the screw in and you will be fine.

Another thing, what are you using to cut the boards?

was going to get the supplier to cut them to size and for the 2-3 odd shaped boards use a multi tool

Treated pine decking will bow, shrink and twist within 5 years. Merbau Decking or any hardwood decking can lasts 20-25 years, I build 2 decks with merbau timbers, one 10 years ago and still looks new and recently building a new merbau decking last week. i shop around alot but this mob in Cambellfield have the best quality and pretty good price www.outdecoliving.com.au
