Lots of people do this and yes there are a lot of benefits, the main being living in a nice home at a lower cost than home ownership. There are a demographic of tenants that are renting by choice not by necessity. High end properties lease very quickly to this demographic.
After years of renting, I have preference to live in our own house for more control. Totally hate moving! That said, it is nice not needing to think about strata and council and water and things to fix when we are renting
