Hi all. I recently bought a place to live in in Darwin. It has a seperate granny flat out back which I can rent for $300-$350 per week.

Interested to hear how other people manage theirs.

Do you do it privately or through an agent?

Can I claim deductions like I do on my other IP’s?

    Hi,

I am sure there are lots of similar threads to yours especially in property management. I have one too but manage it myself.

    Cheers,

Why would someone pay $350/wk for a granny flat when they can get 3x2's and even 4x2's in darwin for the same or less than that? Is that rental estimate accurate?

It’s accurate give or take. Probably closer to $300. You can rent houses in worse suburbs for $350-400.

But then you have to pay power bills, wifi, commit to 12 month leases, furnish it, do lawns etc

I think there’s a market for it. Time will tell.
