    Hi, all!

As we've probably all heard, Masters is finally closing it's door on January 11, 2017.
Unfortunate for all of the staff, however, they are hopefully going to be placed into new jobs or receive full redundancy.

The upside is, that as of this week, all stock is going to be drastically reduced - in a fire sale.

It is truly worthwhile to stock up on paint, timber and other 'must need' items for future renovations as the savings alone are a smart move.

Fire sale: Masters has announced a closing date

Now I need to figure out where to store all of it for the time being...

Believe it when I see it. Will probably be like the dick smith sale. $800 tv down to the fire sale price of $799!

Their EOFY sales were pretty enticing too. i.e 4L Valspar Premium Interior Paint for $20.
They are predicting $1.5B in gross profit from the sale...

    Talk about bad timing.

I was in Masters yesterday and noticed they were offering 50 months interest-free for new kitchen installations. Bargain. Came home last night and convinced Mrs Foxy to order one straightaway as the offer was only on for a few more weeks.

Wake up this morning to news of Woolworths’ massive corporate loss and they are bouncing the hardware business at the end of the year. Mrs F races into store first thing to place order lickety-split. Gets told orders placed before yesterday will be honoured, but not allowed to accept new orders.

That’s just bad luck for us. We had one of their kitchens installed at our previous house and was well pleased with the result. Guess I have to console myself by scrounging for other bargains in-store in coming months hopefully. I will miss our local store and feel sorry for the staff of course.

saw the announcement today, does that mean the "sale" prices are in effect as of now? I'm chasing a couple of reverse cycle aircon units for my PPOR and wouldn't mind a bit of a discount!

I went to masters today and the only thing on sale was the paint. Everything else was normal price. They did have signs on the front windows saying biggest garage sale with 60% off. And I heard they close their doors on 11th December.

I spoke with the lady there tonight and she said they're going to do it in sections, paint seems to be first on the hit list. Not sure what's next. I made an error with the closing date, apologies.

Went to the local Masters (Everton Park) and nothing was on sale.. Apparently this store was the most profitable in Australia so may be holding off on the discounting? Any others in Brisbane discounting??

@vbplease I was told the same story in Coffs Harbour a few months back, I wonder if they're being told to say this for a particular reason? I went to Robina last night to grab a heap of paint as it was half the price - Sherwin Williams brand as well, top quality.
Give it another month and the sales will really kick in ;)

I read the "Sale" starts Monday (29/8) with "up to 30% off" so this is likely to just be a marketing ploy to get the foot traffic happening to maximise returns (yes similar to DSE). If it was a real sale it would be 30% off storewide or similar but that will most likely never happen.

I got a bashing back in Feb 2012. For some reasons, I still remembered this!
