    Hi there,

Just wanted to know how much to budget for a full renovation on the kitchen and bathroom with size 2.5m x 2.5m and 2.8m x 1.8m respectively. I know price will depend on finish etc, but would like to know the price range between budget and high end. Property is in Sydney if costs are different through states.

    Recommendations also welcomed.

    Thanks

I always hate it when people say " How long is a piece of string?" so here is my 2c:
I've got five quotes for my 7sqm bathroom reno, the quotes range from 13k to 25k. I think they are all in the low-end range though.

Draw up a proper kitchen plan and get it quoted.

WOAH What are you having done for up to $25,000!?

    __________________________________________________________________________

Low end kitchen and bathroom can be as cheap as about $10,000. High end is as long as a piece of string, there's an enormous price jump between "cheap" and "not cheap" when it comes to things like tiles, benchtops, cabinetry, etc.

Call these guys - The Kitchen Broker | Kitchen Designers Sydney | Custom Kitchens Sydney

They will design your kitchen and bathroom for a fee of $1500 , and then go out to tender and get you 3-4 quotes for the work. They will also give you the CAD designs to go out and get quotes yourself if you prefer. There is no obligation to use their guys.

I'm in the last few weeks of a very big renovation project where (amongst other things) we did the kitchen, the laundry and 3 bathrooms and 3 toilets.... I can tell you from experience that this service is well worth it

Agree - I reno'd my bathroom and did for less than $12k - this included moving pipes and a $3k vanity.

I had a bathroom reno done and it blew out to $40k :-(

Only way to get an accurate idea is to get a couple of quotes. Perhaps ask for recommendations for companies on the forum and go from there.

    Cheers

The quality is also very good for the money as well. The biggest problem with IKEA is trying to make and collect your order- it's an absolute nightmare.

My kitchen is 2.2 x 1.8m. Quotes range from 17K to 25K + appliances and fittings etc for full project managed kitchen install. Ikea is around 5K (for their higher quality cabinets includes appliances) then add on trades (plumber, electrician, demo, rubbish, installers - Sentup are good value for Ikea installation, tilers, plasterers etc). Quotes for tradespersons varies a lot. Issue is predicting the quality will be for the price paid. eg I'd happily pay $25K plus appliances but am unsure if the quality for a price difference of $8K is going to be any different to the quality of an Ikea $5K kitchen plus appliances and trades. JPK kitchens in Alexandria are a very well established older firm who I've seen 2 friends kitchens done and both were nice end finishes.

I can do a new bathroom myself for circa 2k including paying a plumber approx $500
I do however put a lof time into sourcing cheap materials from auction houses, gumtree, Asian warehouses
Kitchen I find that IKEA is cheapest but a bit of a pain to install. Buy quartz stone benchtops for around $100 per metre

I am always shocked when people divulge what their renovations cost. How people can spend a years salary to upgrade two rooms has got me stuffed

I expect the bathroom & ensuite to exceed the kitchen cost (one day)....

Definitely a piece of string question
Yes, Syd more expensive than Melb

Just for a bit of light entertainment, a house my son is supplying materials for has a $20k shower screen in the ensuite. It separates the ensuite from the bedroom and appears to be clear, but turns opaque when the toilet is in use!

Put the quotes in the other corner of the room. If where you're standing has subsided slightly, then all of the quotes would look high.

This is one of my IPs
Final photo doesn't show shower screen or tiles polished/cleaned.

    300 tub
    350 vanity
    300 screen
    200 showe base
    1000 tiles and tiling
    40 mirror
    40 paint
    100 plaster
    100 light fitting
    60 taps
    40 shower head
    200 framing and floor materials
    200 sundries
Circa 3k including major wall frame and rotten floor.

Where are you guys getting 15-20k from for a bathroom????? Even if I tripled the quality of the fittings used here it wouldn't come close to 6k..

    To clarify, did this kitchen cost $22k + $12k + $2k +$1k ??????

If the kitchen alone cost $22k mate you got ripppeedd a new one..
At the office we just had a kitchen done larger than this, soft close cabs, Matt black mark free (thermal type) coating done for just over 6k.
Add another $2k if you wanted the bench to be stone.
This was measured, made to order and fitted (no labour on our behalf at all).
Appliances and fittings are what they are, but $22k......

How long is a piece of string??
What finish are you looking to achieve?
Italian marble or Bunnings all round?
