I especially like the ensuite choices, probably because the color contrast looks the greatest. I hate bland looking stuff.

I forgot to say don't stress! It's Cloverdale, not Highgate ;)

Think of this build as traditional with a twist. I have seen a lot of what is being built in the area and it is very bland. Remember we have to appeal to the people who buy in the area, so going for bogan chic? Not what I would do for my house at all.

That is a great idea I did not think of. That would be a lot better in the bathroom and ensuite than the stripe. Much better and much easier to tile. The stripe was a PITA to do.

7582E71F-BF76-4B3B-B602-5D82ADBC7799.jpeg I was looking at places for sale in Mexico. This sort of bathroom was rare but not completely so- I thought it might make @Gockie feel a bit better about her Dad’s place.

 He's now talking about the effectiveness of his airconditioning.

Let's get this topic back to @Leo2413 or @Perthguy's tiling, or the size of @kierank or @Nodrog's acreages and decks....

I will have more tiling for you after tomorrow. The kitchen splashback! I am not expecting it to be universally loved :)

Who ever thought the size of decks is that important. As long as its big enough to be able to entertain on it when others come over that's all that matters really.

I need my decks and outdoor areas. I didn't think I had any use for three but.... One is mainly for washing and laundry (we also have an outdoors hills hoist, that's not covered though), another deck is dedicated for unicycling (I'm currently learning to ride backwards and also to ride, stop, go backwards a half rotation then ride again), and the front porch is for reading the newspapers on Saturdays!

Oh yes, my dad has an outdoor balcony area, but he had it enclosed (not a great enclosure)... oh, this leads me to remembering he did his own DIY window double glazing jobs too. Doh!! Dad!!!! Personally I'd rather pay a professional a few thousand to do a good job...

    Sorry folks.
    House/inheritance devaluing bit by bit....

I think it could be a male thing.

I read somewhere that men with little decks are more likely to have low self esteem, feel inadequate, ...

No such problem with me. We have feed up to 50 people, all sitted, on my deck.

We did this and the tiles should be in the same dolomite family (we picked 2 colours) too ...
But the feature tile started from lining up perfect to misaligned at the top by 1-2cm I think because of slightly different size. Looking at other work in both bathrooms I think we got a great tiler

Who'd have thought that you would get such good results putting a shovel to the tiles?

I thought these were on trend  tiler wanted 500 plus tiles so i just did this. When the shower leaks it will push us to do a full reno:D
I'm doing some backyard blitz with the shower and waterproofing;)

I'm not familiar with a grout pen. I used agrout scraper to scratch the top layer. Then mix up new grout and place. Great way for a quick change

Nice, your tiles are not too small, so it's ok to scrape and re-grout. I've mosaic tiles, I may just get some decking tiles from ikea and put them on top instead.

    Hmmm... dad's handiwork.

    Screenshot_20180622-220900.jpg

And an update on the bidet situation. Now, he might have only installed the other one back in December 2017 and it's already "faulty"

My dad also bought himself a small Segway. ~sigh~

Not the type of thing he'd Google or spend his time on. He's a doer... if it means installing an air conditioner (crooked), he's your man.
