I actually can't recall the old taps!

Anyway, update. He has now completed the job. I really want to white knight the bath and the beige tiles of the shower. Screenshot_2018-01-24-13-01-57.png

... Considering the height of the shower fram, he might want to add one more layer of tile?

Other than that they look ok :D

I think there's 6 types of tiles in the photo, and that's counting all the "diagonal" tiles as 1 type.

It was a half reno job. Personally, I would either reno the whole room properly, or not do it at all.
Oh, he was also sharing his bidet photos with the family on facebook messenger. They are too funny.
Anyway, the toilets (2 of them) are now a mish mash too.... what to do.....

Oh boy - seen some "interesting" reno jobs but Glockie's Dad takes the cake. I suspect he just decreased the value of his property by a bathroom reno.

What was he hoping to achieve with this renovation? So many of his choices are - to quote Spock - illogical.

    I feel your pain.

I've just seen this and I'm already freaking out - should I stop reading now so I don't see the upstairs?

    My rules of tiling
    1. a. only buy the same size tiles
    b. then CHECK. The box will say 300 x 600 but when you put it on another companies 300 x 600 you'll find they are both different sizes so try and stick with same company if you can
    2. if you must buy 2 size tiles because you fall in love with a feature tile then run it all the way along a wall of the shower rather than a stripe then you won't have as much grout colour issues
    3. Don't assume that 300 x 300 and 300 x 600 tiles will be able to work that every second 300 x 300 tile will match the grout line of a 300 x 600. It won't because there is an extra grout line between the 300s. This will make a few mill difference and truly ruin your life
    4. If in doubt choose a neutral and use on floor and walls and don't do feature tiles
    5. white gloss wall tiles were invented for a reason. If you ever get stuck they lighten up a room, easy to match grout to and are very cheap. If you do white wall tiles then use a wooden laminate for the vanity to warm up the room so it doesn't look too sterile

I did a prestart for a client yesterday. It was for a 60+ year old lady for her to live in so we went with a very neutral palette, nothing too daring. This is our choices - sorry for crap photos. I take a photo record of choices to help me remember

The main floor tile colour is a limestoney sort of concretey tile - it's a warm colour not a cold concrete. This is 600 x 600 and will be continued into the laundry and bathrooms as a 300 x 600 on floor. An easy choice for a seamless flow and takes the hard work out of finding a tile to match where they join

Kitchen: limestoney floor, LMX Oyster Linea cupboards, Essa Pure Cloud Benchtop, white chevron splashback
    IMG_7534.JPG

Ensuite: limestoney floor (300 x 600) and feature wall tile is the wavy tile and the other tile is the non feature tile. They are 200 x 600 but as they are laid horizontal and together and white there shouldn't be any grout/line issues. Vanity is Oyster Linea for benchtop and cupboard doors

    IMG_7536.JPG

    Main Bathroom
Limestoney 300 x 600 on the floor and bath hob/riser and white 300 x 600 on the walls. No feature tile. There is no window in this bathroom only a sky light so white glossy wall tiles chosen to help brighten it up. Vanity is Oyster linea again :p
