I find that the tradies in Hobart are more expensive than the ones in mainland. I did a major rennovation in Brisbane before. Want to know how much more in percentage I need to be prepared to pay in Hobart? Thanks

Your Sydney address might have something to do with the costings

Definitely avoid saying you are from Sydney. I just completed a reno in Hobart and had quite a few quotes with a "sydney tax" applied. i joked with one builder about that, and he said that all the tradies definitely add a loading for any investors from sydney or melbourne

the tradies i ended up using were substantially cheaper than anyone i have used in sydney.

I worked for an electrician and mechanic and everyone was charged the same. An awful lot of people did not pay their bills so I suspect the fees have gone up since with some tradies to try and stay afloat. Pay your bills and treat your trades people well and you can expect a discount in the long run but expertise costs money.
