Hi, I'm am looking at renovating two bathrooms in my home. Has anyone user polished rendered walls in a bathroom? I've seen pictures of rendered walls at it looks great. Just wondering how practicable and cost effective they are instead of tiles.

Not sure I've ever heard of "polished" render walls?

That's my mistake and wording, the walls probably aren't polished but they are smooth as opposed to rendering on the outside of a house

They may have been finished with a "white set" plaster coat, and then painted. Does that sound right?

Thanks that looks like what I have seen. I was also looking at using a lime wash.

Tiles would be cheaper and there is maintenance involved, sealed with wax to keep them non porous.
But with an experienced artisan Venetian Plaster / Polished Render can be a great feature in any house.

Thinking of similar for shower recess, vanity top and kitchen benchtops. $250 sq metre fully installed. Can create many looks such as marble, granite, concrete etc.

Certainly dearer than DIY with bunnings tiles, little dearer than quality/designer tiles, much cheaper than stone or composites.

End of the day depends on look you want...and much easier to clean than grout!!

Mob we are considering is REDISCOVER RENDER - Render It Oz

I love the look but would never use it in a bathroom. Plenty of tiles round that can replicate this look with no maintenance or watertight issues.
