Google reviews are sometimes a poor choice for a valid recommendation.Search AAAcityremovalists, they used to write their own,and were prosecuted at least twice i know off.Go on Whirlpool if you want recommendations.

Thanks Jim, im probably going to need a permit to have the container (20f) on the side of the road as it probably wont fit in my carport, however a large pod (4.8 x 2.4m)should fit on my carport (6.2 x 2.8m). See attached

If you want some of a real idea of the traffic, you can check it on this site. Fridays seem to be the worst but it's midday in the pic and it normally thickens by 4.00pm. When you hit summer it gets a lot worse and towards Chrissy holidays it ends up being bumper to bumper quite often. That's why I said if you need to go into the Brisbane CBD get as close as you can. When there's a large car crash or we get our large rains, it's not uncommon to close off the M1 for a few hours. I don't know if you're like me but I'd rather spend more time with the family than being caught in traffic.

    Brisbane welcomes you!! :)
I would suggest you split this into 2-3 properties so that you can experience the area 24hrs a day and over weekends.
Lots of people set schools and childcare as top priority.

I think we initially going to stay at Greenacres Caravan Park (Sheldon QLD 4157) for 2 weeks, then might try find something else.

    Any suggestions?

Wow, some people really like to exaggerate Brisbane traffic.
I lived at Eight Mile Plains for 7 years and I caught the bus into the city for 2 years and drove into the CBD (George St) for three years. From the EMP busway, it takes around 19 minutes by bus. They come every 5ish minutes at peak times and in absolute chaos, it might take an extra 30 minutes... that might be once every 2 months at worst.

Driving into the city only really clogs up inbound at around Gaza road. I still drive every day and from Mount Gravatt East, it's about 35 minutes to get to my car park if I leave home at 8am.

Coming home to Mount Gravatt East or EMP was about the same time and traffic starts at the Logan Rd exit. It's about 25-30 minutes almost every single day and maybe once per fortnight it's worse than 40 minutes home.

The stretch from Logan rd to Springwood is the worst strip. At around 3pm onwards, that stretch can take an extra 25-30 minutes just to get between those exits. There is also a busway stop in Springwood and the buses take bout 25-28 minutes most days. There is very limited parking at that stop but you might be able to walk it from some houses in Springwood.

Yes @Bris Jay - southerns need to realise Brisbane has a good bus system on the Southside and isn't reliant on rail

I don't think any of this is a big deal either way.
Just stay close to express busses to the cbd (of which there are many in every direction) and things will be fine.

Lol! you're 12ks from the city (Mount Gravatt East), Exactly what I said was to get closer to the city if you want to avoid lengthy drives.

I moved the contents of a 2 br unit in Sydney to a house in Brisbane and I cannot fault the service at all.

I used these guys, very efficient movers, very hard working, great attitude. Great price and service imo (about $1500 for everything picked up, transported, delivered).

Yup, there is a train, was just wondering if a bus was a viable option too.

    Hi All,

Just wanted to let you all know that we have decided on Wynnum (and possibly neighboring suburbs).

I have just enrolled my daughter in Wynnum State School, so we will try to find a rental property as close as possible.

    Cheers,
    Robbie

Good job @robbie_p. Hubby's family is from Wynnum. You'd love it.

    Welcome to the Sunshine State!

    Thanks guys!

An opportunity to secure a rental property in Manly West has come about. As we have a dog it will also take pressure off us having to find a rental when we arrive, boarding facilities for our dog and short term accommodation etc.

How is Manly West? As mentioned, my daughter has already been accepted into Wynnum SS, so not too far either.

    Interested to hear your thoughts?
