release of mortgage QLD

    I noticed when i bought a property that i had to pay for the release of mortgage of the sellers mortgage over the property $169. i know in other states this fee is reimbursed at settlement. i was talking to my friend who is a home loan specialist in qld who says that the buyer pays this fee in qld. i thought this was odd.

    is this the case? or should i have been reimbursed at settlement?

    There would usually be a less adjustment in the settlement statement to account for this
