I put this post up on business chat a few days ago.

need clarification on a point here.

A workplace closes down. The employees are offered the same work in another depot but it's 100 kms away and they have to re- locate their families to be able to work there.
If employees don't take up the option to re- locate does this become voluntary or involuntary redundancy for those that decline the offer?
Would it be up to the employer on what to class this as or would it be a point of legality?

I would think this would fail the "reasonable request" test. http://www.professionalsaustralia.org.au/blog/relocation-rights-responsibilities/
