Can anyone recommend a decent record player?
I found my vinyl collection and would like to play some of them.
There doesn't seem to be any online with good reviews.

It comes down to how much you want to spend as well as features. Most high end turntables are fully manual, meaning when the stylus/tone arm gets to the end of the record, it just sits there and you need to manually lift off, and to change speed, often requires changing the belt vs automatic / semi automatic turntables.

    Some recommendations would be:
    - Audio Technica have a good range with various price points, even cheaper ones are OK.
    - Pro-ject have a wide range of manual turntables.
    - Rega Planar pretty much a flag bearer for high sound quality turntables.

Yes, Linn Sondek is great but current version is about $18k.

You're in Melbourne? There would be lots of shops that sell reconditioned record players. I bought mine from a shop in Sydney about 5 years ago. Turntable + amp + speakers was about $1,500. It's a 70s vintage.

Plenty of shops selling brand new - aimed at a different market these days though :)

The Melbourne Hi-Fi Show is on this coming weekend.... leave your credit card at home. I treated myself to a "proper hifi" last year, I budgeted $2k for a turntable, amp and a pair of speakers. I ended up ploughing nearly $8k into it instead (not meant as a brag - just that it is a rabbit hole!!). But man, what a sound! I'm super stoked with my setup.

I didn't realise that Bentley had a hand finished carbon frame with all of the whistles and bells.
