    Hi,

Does anyone have any recommendations for a solicitor and/or any advise if the solicitor should be from the same state as property purchase?

I am based in Sydney but looking to buy property in QLD.

    Cheers

    P

You need a solicitor local to the state you are buying in. ( unless it is a big firm with a multi state presence).

Many solicitors do conveyancing for multiple states. Including one man bands.

I know of one sole practitioner who is a property specialist and does conveyancing for all states of Australia.

That's different. As long as they are used to doing it in that state then not an issue.

You do not need to have your solicitor based in the state you are buying your property in, they just need to be legally allowed to service those states which not all solicitors are.

For my Brisbane purchase being based in Sydney I have used [email protected] from GMLaw. Great guy and very helpful, ready to go an extra mile with you.
