Hi, Does anyone have any recommendations for a solicitor and/or any advise if the solicitor should be from the same state as property purchase? I am based in Sydney but looking to buy property in QLD. Cheers P
You need a solicitor local to the state you are buying in. ( unless it is a big firm with a multi state presence).
I use this company for QLD purchases. Not cheap but professional which is far more important IMO. Great communication as well; Vivien Foote | Conveyancing Manager T +61 7 5532 3199 | E [email protected] F +61 7 5591 3402 A 3 Short St (PO Box 1046) Southport Q 4215 W www.abkj.com.au
I know of one sole practitioner who is a property specialist and does conveyancing for all states of Australia.
You do not need to have your solicitor based in the state you are buying your property in, they just need to be legally allowed to service those states which not all solicitors are. For my Brisbane purchase being based in Sydney I have used [email protected] from GMLaw. Great guy and very helpful, ready to go an extra mile with you. Dmitry
