Can anyone recommend a good building and Pest Pre purchase inspection service in the Brisbane area?

We used Fin Hayhurst, Senior Inspector of JHA Professional Structural and Pest Inspections recently for a house we were selling. 1800 35 15 35 or Mobile 0421 154 666

We paid for the report, and many people will say they wouldn't trust a report paid for by the vendor, but we found him to be very fair. He pointed out the problems, some of which we fixed, some of which we didn't. We allowed purchasers to see the report. The buyer didn't get a report AFAIK.

Be warned he is very thorough, don't let it spook you if he picks up a lot of things.

Yes, I ended up using Wayne for the B&P - Very knowledgeable and will just continue talking and explain every detail of the property to you. I would also recommend him.

BTW, Azazel, I mentioned to him that I got his details from here. He is curious as to who gave the positive recommendation and you may want to give him a call?

    Glad you found him helpful.
Hehe, I'll give him a call, he's probably wondering why he's suddenly getting random enquiries from interstaters.

I've used Andrew Mackie Smith from BuildingPro close to 10 times in the past couple of years. What I like most about him is that he is both an inspector, as well as an investor himself - he understands the game and is very upfront and detailed about the associated risks that he finds. He will typically outline the immediate and major issues that requires rectification and the minor items that can be delayed. His favourite line is typically... "If I were you... I'll be going back with this report and I'll be asking for some discount." Regardless if you already pick something up below market value. His perception is: It doesn't matter what your agreed offer is, it is entirely up to you to use the report to your advantage - took me a long time to get comfortable with this line of thinking...

I've been recommended him by Lu as well.

Are you able to expand on your recommendation? Is he quite thorough with his inspections?

Well Lu must come across many B&P inspectors so I guess says something if she is recommending Brett.

Brett was recommended to me by Beanie Girl and have been very happy with him.

Very thorough and the reports are easy to read - lots and lots of photos.

    Cheers,
    Michael

I can recommend The Inspector, he knows what he is talking about and has the grey hairs. Be sure to call whoever you pick for their opinion after the report.

Which part of town are you looking at buying as whilst most will travel the better ones focus on a particular area.

We use a variety of both Building Inspectors and Pest Inspectors depending on the location.

Let us know and we can try and point you in the right direction.

    Cheers

Recently used The Inspector. Was impressed by the detail in their reports, along with the amount of photos. Rang them the day after the inspection, as I couldn't be there for the inspection, and they were happy to go through the details and any questions I had. I'd definitely recommend for anyone who is in need of a B&P Inspector.

I think it's generally around the $500 mark. Mine cost me around that.

You're right Leo, good for negotiations, but scary for some people.
