Tenant is asking to have the kitchen tap changed as it only services one sink instead of both. Is this a reasonable request?

The house is in a newly renovated condition.

I wonder if it was installed incorrectly.

    Very reasonable.

I also can not see the point of having two sinks, with only one to be used as a sink. When was this renovated?

maybe post a photo of the actual sink and the tap, it might make better sense of what needs to be done.

Yeah, that would drive me crazy having a double sink with a tap that would only reach to one bowl.

If they can't use it fully, does it depreciate any less?

Expectation is that you can use both sinks.
If the tap didn't swivel it would annoy me to no end.
Don't be stingy and spend the $50 to get one

The previously owner are the retired couple who did the immaculate renovation of the house. When we lived there the tap serves both sinks but just a bit loose.
Now the tenant said that the tap is meant for one sink and it becomes loose it serves both sinks. They had to tighten it all the time when it becomes too loose. A photo of the tap is uploaded.
Good tenant, so don't want to kick a fuss but just want to know how it is meant to be.

Nice sink! Looks like it's a tap designed for one sink rather than two.
Agree with the others, save yourself the petty argument and fix the tap.

If the property is near you it'd take only a quick trip to your local hardware shop and a further 15 minutes to replace the tap.

    Here's a how-to video if you're not plumbing savvy:

    Thanks Jake.
We are insterstate so this will have to be done by the plumber.

It's the correct style of tap - swivel outlet.

At a guess, the locknut under the sink, which holds the base of the tap is loose, once that is tightened the section with the swivel outlet will swing over both bowls.

Hey turk, doesn't a swivel outlet usually have an extra horizontal line (from the join) above/under the faucet and under the tap head?
Curious as to how you knew as for me at a glance it looked different to others swivels I've seen?

^ This is the line I'm thinking of (line below faucet)

A faucet is an US name for a tap. Try handle, body, outlet and flange.

The 2 lines are most likely, a- under the handle, as in your 1st photo
b- above the flange sitting on the sink as in your 2nd photo.

Being a plumber for 25+ years helps.
