I will be putting an IP on the rental market soon. I have spent quite a bit of time on realestateaustralia.com checking on the market - available units, and market rents - trying to gauge what rent I should set.

Is this the "go to" site? Any other sites worth reviewing? Is this what prospective tenants look at?

Domain.com.au is probably the other main one.
Google your suburb + for rent in google and see if any other sites come up

I heard that RE.COM.AU is the go to site in QLD.

I never use domain. RE.com is the go to site in Brisbane. We do list on domain simply in case someone down south is wanting to see what's available here.

REA is the premium go to site. When I bought shares in it was growing user at about 20% p/a, from 2013 to 2015 it increased visits from 20 million a month to 33 million a month. It did have about 250% more visits than Domain It has been able to grow revenue by charging a premium. I think some users will baulk at REA prices and use Domain since it appears to have improved its function. So I sold REA last year.

99% of listings will be on Realestate.com, plus it has some great tools for end users to do market research. It's a great place to be monitoring the market.

RE and Domain generally have the same listings and are the main ones.

I use both with no preference for one or the other, they are basically the same thing from a (this) users point of view.

I've checked out rent.com.au but it's pretty crap for finding listings which is a shame, as the platform was good. Just suffers from a lack of network effect I guess.
