Hi Everyone I have just joined Property Chat. Have never joined a forum before. I have always wanted to buy an investment property but have always been held back by fear. I thought by joining this forum, I could learn how to buy an investment property. I have read a lot of the posts and like what I read. So wish me luck and I look forward to buying my first IP.
Welcome @TS2015. You've certainly come to the right place. Like you, I was always dreamt of being able to buy an investment property - the interest was certainly there - but I never really had the knowledge, or guts, to go ahead with it. While I was good at managing my own income, and great at budgeting, I really didn't think I'd have the finances to manage another loan (on top of my own mortgage), and was worried about all the "what if…" worst case scenarios (and was afraid I'd end up living in the gutter). So, late last year I saw a financial planner, and realised I was in a much better position than I thought. Then I joined the Somersoft forum (which has now been replaced by Property Chat), and have learnt sooooooo much. The willingness of both the professionals (ie. employed in the finance, investment, and associated fields), and the experienced investors to share their knowledge on this forum is truly amazing. I've been inspired and educated by a group of selfless, funny, and very knowledgable people. They're not afraid to debate and stir the pot, make you think about all sorts of stuff that you may have never considered (with potentially both good and/or bad outcomes) before you commit to anything, and offer their advice. Plus, they're great hand-holders too. And now, my first investment property settles in a week Good luck with getting started.
