Does anyone who has lived in apartments for extended period of time able to recommend a rangehood? I don't think I'm going to be able to convince Strata to let me put a hole in wall large enough for ducting out, so am now looking at the re-circulating rangehood options.

They either seem to just blow it into the cupboard/ceiling or out of small vents at the front. Any thoughts ? Also is slide out better or fixed ?
I'm thinking effectiveness is mediocre anyway, I might just go for a cheap one rather then more exxy
I'm doing a reno to kitchen, so open to different ways its mounted

    thanks

Worth asking strata if you can put a ducted one in - significantly better than the recirculating type

Simply that cooking fumes and moisture are extracted to the outside air to be replaced by fresh air drawn in from outside, rather than being passed through a charcoal filter and back into the room.

Other arrangement I have seen in very old apartments is a recirc hood + window extraction fan

That's currently what the kitchen has. Not sure how effective that is.

I'm asking approval for air con, which would needing a hole at the external wall. It would be smaller then a cooking duct though.
I'm wondering if its worth trying asking for both whilst I'm at it, see what strata says. Other units have installed air con but not for cooking exhaust and body corp is pretty tight on everything
