When I was a kid mum used to make Rabbit pie - a real 'war food' cheap alternative. It was good.

I'm trying to track down some rabbit, but can't seem to find any Brisbane sellers. Anyone know any butchers in Brisbane that stock rabbit?

I'm not really keen to 'adopt' a couple of bunnies from the RSPCA so I can eat them. I guess I'd get a complimentary set of gloves!

Pellet gun in the burbs would do it :p

It's probably fancy now and in boutique butchers!

Bob, now you're showing your westie roots. There is an IGA near me who sell whole rabbits. There are a lot of Italians in the area and I know they love the stuff. No need to use the pellet gun anymore....;)

Historical fact. The South Sydney Rabbitohs are named because way back in history, South Sydney used to be a poor area. Some of the players used to catch and sell rabbits and even before their games too. Their playing jerseys were sometimes stained with rabbits blood...

Our local "Tasman Meats" have whole frozen rabbits. Not sure if this is a Vic or national chain, though.

They used to be avalilable in the local butcheries. It may be worth checking out the local markets. One near us sells game meat.

I've had it in Paris though the last time I ate it was last year in Mexico. The thick sauce covered up the cut- it turned out that i was chewing on a whole head. What made it worse is that it looked a whole lot like a rat's head.

This is true, also the roosters are call the roosters because people in the eastern suburbs were the only ones who could afford poultry.

    Haha yep!
One time my funny mates left a few on my driveway, my old man saw them and wasn't happy, he told them to throw them in the fridge next time!

That's interesting! I thought it might have had something to do with Roosters like to crow first thing in the morning and wake everybody up. The sun rises in the East so logically the Roosters would crow in that area first...

    See @Biz's post!
And we all know Parramatta is translated in an Aboriginal language: "Place where the Eels lie down..."

I have no idea on any other clubs but I'd say Manly Sea Eagles and Cronulla Sharks are obvious

Almost every Coles in Vic stocks rabbit in the meat section.
