Waking up on a Saturday morning feeling 100% and not fogged up due to drinks the night before is the next best thing after rolling up to an RBT without a worry.
Two weeks off drinking due to work commitments... haven't felt this good in ages and no plans on drinking over the long weekend either. I really enjoy those shortish abstinence periods. People underestimate the damage alcohol can do to the body/mind even after a moderate night out.

I'm still alcohol free, I'm not quite sure how many years now. About seven I think.

Though I can't cope with herbal tea. I love a good coffee. @willair, you're a stronger man than me.

Geoff, i gave up the coffee just homegrown mint now as it's a very stress free drink ,i did try a mix with mint garlic but that was not good ..
I'm just glad i don't drink anymore as during the GFC this time of morning it would take a few minutes to work out what day it was ..

@willair just passed the 10 month mark.

I've really struggled the last few weeks though, about as bad as it's been since the first month.

I'm back into cycling, went away to do a gravel loop around Strathbogie, stayed over at the Bonnie Doon Hotel-Motel. Asked if they had any alcohol free beers at the bar, barmaid practically laughed me out of the place so I asked for a lemonade, when she handed it over she said "there's your lemonaaaaaide" super sarcastically.

It's no wonder there's such a huge drink-driving problem here when a pub miles from anywhere (which was packed by the way) actively discourages people from ordering an alcohol free beverage. I'd wager the majority of people in the bar that night were driving home afterwards.

Don't let idiots like that discourage you. And well done on sticking to it for this long.

Propagate, only my opinion from not drinking is so far the urge to have a drink is still there every now and again
a mate who has not had a drink for 20 years still gets the same urge and as he tell me everythime just take it one day at a time ..
Well done on the ten months ,what i find is walking helps me in a big way after the first 40 steps the urge just is left behind ..good luck as i know it's not easy..

Got a similar response when I asked for AF beer in a small Sydney bottle shop, "Supermarket aisle 4"

I'm at 4 1/2 months and have no cravings at all anymore, I don't even drink the AF beer much which I did almost daily in first 2-3 months. I'm really hoping the cravings don't come back as I find life much better without alcohol.
Problem now is I drink too much coffee...

I'm ashamed to say my alcohol consumption has tripled recently

Before I used to be 2 drinks per night twice a week or 1x binge drink with friends where I would have 4 or 5

    I've had 3 days past week where I've had 4 --5 drinks

And ive noticed my tolerance going up

Not a good sign but also not unexpected...

Drinking in coronavirus isolation: experts warn Australians to monitor their intake

"Commsec reported spending was up more than 20% in the week ending 20 March, compared with the same time last year; and in the week to March 27, spending at liquor stores in Australia was up 86%. Although that rise was off-set by the closure of bars, restaurants and pubs, that week Australians still spent 34% more on alcohol than at the same period the previous year."

    the latter,
I have not yet been to bondi beach or any nearby beaches,:)

nor have I been to the toilet paper section in the supermarket for a while

I would expect, alcohol, online gambling, food delivery services, to surge

Nothing to ashamed of ,with some many in lock-down a lot would be having a drink at home as drinking carries with it some risk..
It will be over one a half years in a few months ,and i know one small item you wake up at 5 in the morning knowing what happened and without a hangover..good luck..

Drinking is the worst. I haven’t had a drink for 2 months.

Between sleeping late and drinking, I always feel very sick the next day after a big night drinking, which goes to show drinking does some pretty bad damage to the body.

In contrast say I stayed up late playing cards with friends til 4am, I can just sleep in and feel fine.
