How long does it take for the Land Titles office to notify Council of change of ownership and whose responsibility is it to do this.

Settlement of my commercial property was a month ago and I am receiving notification of payments due to council.

I thought it was the purchaser's responsibility

    state?

Notice of sale would be done at settlement in NSW. These days it is all electronic so I think there should not be a delay.

This is for Land Tax registration with the OSR.

I recently received a rates notice for one which had disposed of back in June - simply emailed the council to confirm the transfer date. Likewise updated the SRO website to avoid a land tax bill.

Like it would happen if the purchaser had to tell council that they WANT to pay rates? Yeah! Right.

Did the buyer's bank even lodge the transfers yet? Still paper happening in QLD. Often we find a bank or their agent has not lodged the transfers and mortgage docs weeks (a couple of times months) after settlement

Thanks for the replies - will email council to notify them of change of ownership.
