I'm looking to cut out a kitchen pass through into the outdoor patio...am I free to cut it any size I want? Or are there "standard" sizes that most window manufacturers work towards (like how 90% of doors fit a few standard dimensions)? Or are windows mainly a custom built-to-order sort of product?

Why not buy the window and cut the hole to suit?

Cause I want a bi-fold window with a very specific size in mind.

    1) They have been around forever
    2) I haven't heard that they won't be around for a long time
    3) Yes, I have used previously but they are pricey. Plenty of other brands available too - Dowel, Trend, Bradhams etc but it will come down to the type of aluminium profile/section that they use so a visit to their showrooms can be worthwhile.

Thank you. I guess I should have expected the market was predominantly a pre-made one. It must cost a small fortune to have custom ones built.

Anyway I'll likely shop around but I could see myself going with Stegbar. Being a "bar" / entertaining window it's going to get a ton of use, so I'd rather go with quality.

Could also consider a gas strut one for added functionality: upload_2021-2-4_16-53-4.png

I was considering that but my partner is pretty short so I was picturing her struggling trying to pull it back down :)

Also what other "added functionality"? I assume it doubles as cover from rain, what else?

Mostly being able to use the full width of the window; having a nice clean single pane instead of multiple ones; once its open it won't get splatters of food, hmm thats all I can think of!

Hmmm I have one at my house but I don't know it's individual price but I don't think it was a fortune.

Stegbar do offer them too Residential Aneeta Sashless Windows
