2 days work so far on the front bathroom. There's also a separate toilet. Demo'd all the old stuff and knocked up all the old tiles, ripped out the water damaged bits, re-sheeted and waterproofed, re-tiled all the main bits.

Hopefully 2 more days to have the grouting done, tiling completed, new toilet and vanity in, new tap-ware, new shower screen. Then another day to paint. Then another day for new mirror, new floor waste, new towel rail, and everything plumbed in.

We shall see if all goes to plan and the whole bathroom and toilet can be done in 6 days

Yeah there was a fair bit to do for the external painting. Lots of rotten boards to replace, old peeling paint to scrap, gaps to fill. Was a pretty big job.

But powering through. Was a bit run down for a while there. No energy. Must have been fighting something off. But now ive got energy again and am smashing out 11hr days on the place.

Have you thought about trying out for The Block. I love renovating, but I prefer that I'm putting any pressure on our timeline, and not Keith or a TV crew and schedule. I'd never, ever, ever, ever go on The Block. But to do a bathroom in six days is probably good proof that you can work under pressure and know how to plan and project manage. Of course, it takes two to get results on that show.

I think I would find the block really frustrating. It's all about drama queens.

I don't think I would make good Tv.

Presenter: "Oh no Tim your plasterer has left without finishing the job and you've only got two days left! There's no way..."

Me: "No worries I'll just do the plastering, it's an easy job and all these tradies are charging way to much anyway".

Presenter: "But how are you going to get it done in two days!"

Me: "Look it's wet chalk, you push it into gaps in the wall, it dries, you sand it and paint it...done."

Presenter: "Oh okay, maybe we'll go see how the other contestants are doing".

--- Besides I don't buy that they are doing much work. They carry one bit of gyprock in and then stand in front of the camera for an hour to reflect on what just happened.

"Well I knew the gyprock needed to be put in the unit, so I went and I picked the gyprock up you see, and then I climbed up the stairs. I think there were about 20 steps. Then I brought the gyprock in the room, but first I had to decide on which room...."

Bloody hell just go do some work already!

Thanks mate. Nice of you to say. It is a lot of hard work. But I dont mind because it will be worth it. Ive been very lucky to have parents that helped me with deposits to get the projects started and that my dad taught me how to do the work.

And I cant forget the wife. Who, while ive been doing the bathroom has gap filled the whole hallway and painted the ceiling. Plus she brings me food and beer while I renovate :D

It is nice seeing the dollars come in now. A lot of that hard work is paying off. So many people work hard but still cant get ahead. So I count myself as very lucky.

And youre welcome to come visit the project. Should be 1 or 2 months before I start getting tenants in so feel free to pop around before then. Just msg me. Ive already shown childonly through a while back. Always happy to do a bit of show and tell lol.

Day 4 of the bathroom reno. The wife got in and helped with the bathroom today.

All plumbed in now except for the floor waste which I'll have to cut in tomorrow.

First coat of paint done. Did a heap of plaster work in the hallway bit just above where I was standing taking the picture. That was time consuming. All tap-ware is on. Lots of gap filling done. Moldings put up. Just lots of bits and pieces done today.

Not a massive day today. Been pushing it a bit hard lately and starting to get run down. One more days work will definitely get the job done.

Looking great Tim! I like the pendant light in the bathroom. Who does the styling?

Do you still do a lot of bargain hunting for materials on graysonline?

Pendant is just from bunnings :)

For the styling me and my wife just come up with ideas that don't cost too much.

Yeah still bargain hunting. That vanity was from graysonline brand new. The paint was from grays online too. The floor tiles were from gumtree. The towel rail and towel ring which are yet to go in, are from grays as well.

I just priced everything up for the whole bathroom/toilet renovation:

    Exhaust fan $20
    Pendant $70
    Mirror $30
    Floor tiles: $50
    Skirting tiles: $50
    Wall tiles $50
    Taps bath and vanity $80
    Waste $15
    Plumbing $35
    Tile glue $40
    Grout $30
    Towel rail $5
    Towel ring $3
    Vanity $40
    Floor grate $12
    Paint $50
    Water proofing $15
    Toilet $120
    Fibro $80
    Shower caddy $12

So total renovation cost for the bathroom is $807. Throw in around 65 hrs of DIY time.
