There's been a bit of talk on the forum about lack of jobs growth and a poor economic future in Queensland recently so I started checking out info as to how long till the next q'land election and how labor were tracking and where a change in government might be the trigger for the phase of Queensland growth transitioning into a boom phase . Next election is early 18 and labour is ahead in the polls . Queensland

So it was interesting to see that business confidence is at a six year high in Queensland

Employment in Queensland is growing strongly with service industries leading the way

Gold coast is absolutely booming. I can't see this boom stopping for the next decade regardless of who is elected.

Tourism - record highs and growing. GC now has. The most leisure tourist visits in Oz, and that number is growing.

Population growth. Both international, interstate and baby boom.

Building and construction boom - both housing and infrastructure.

A low AUD (which is particularly beneficial for tourist economies).

A massive value price arbitrage between Sydney and Melbourne.

Continued international airline routes direct to Gold Coast.

Massive projects in the works, including casinos, theme parks, cruise ship terminals etc.

A gradual "merging" taking place between Briabane and Gold Coast.

Success of light rail buildout and building boom around light rail route.

    Apartment construction boom.

House building (and renno upgrading) boom.

Massive modernisation of pretty much everything on the way - casino, shopping centres etx.

Massive build our of sporting facilities (related to upcoming commonwealth games) and more generally as GC positions itself as the sporting event and trading facility capital of Australia.

Feel good and publicity factor related to upcoming commonwealth games (and longer term 2028 Olympic Games bid from Brisbane).

A very proactive an business friendly major.

The lowest unemployment rate in Qld (and continuing to fall) with numerous skills and professions in massive demand (leading to significant wage increases).

    A booming education industry.

    A boom health care industry.

Chinese, European and middle eastern tourists and investors for the first time "discovering" the Gold Coast.

A continued focus both on growing tourism but also on diversifying the economy.

Businesses moving HQ from Brisbane to Gold Coast both for cost and lifestyle reasons.

Continued growth in convention business, events hosting and rapidly growing hipster dining/cafe scene.
