It looks as though Labor is likely to win. What will either party winning men for properties in QLD, and other factors that affect property prices?

Labor would raise the existing 3 per cent transfer duty surcharge applied to foreign buyers of Queensland property to 7 per cent, expected to deliver an extra $33 million a year.

A new land tax category would cover an estimated 850 large property holdings - not farms - worth above $10 million at a rate of 2.25 per cent for individuals and 2.5 per cent for trusts, companies, or absentee landholders.
Labor to increase taxes on luxury cars, large properties and online bets

    My grout will shrink
    The clay soil will expand
    The trees will grow
The property will still require maintenance
And I'll be looking for new tenants

    We'll get over it.

We need to get over grout. I think its a bad material for wet areas. Japan has the whole bathroom in one plastic piece. Not so great aesthetically but super clean.
When is someone going to invent grout 2.0. Like something more silicone based where mould and stains wont get stuck into it? I know someone is going to post 'that already exists, its called XXX' but in that case why is it not being used?

In relation to the election, I think getting stuck into infrastructure projects is really important for Brisbane property. That means Cross River Rail (the LNP are being stupid on that), the Metro, Brisbane Live (now guaranteed by both parties - yay).
Of course the broader economy is very important too and I am not seeing any significant ideas from both parties about how to deal with the debt. I am not seeing any game changers being suggested.
Overall I don't think it will have much short to medium term impact either way, whoever wins.

If the LNP form a minority govt with One Neuron they may well demand an end to foreign nationals buying properties in QLD. What effect that will have on the market I'm not sure...

I'm traditionally a Liberal voter but both parties have become so muddied that you can't take them on their traditional standpoints anymore.... so much so that I voted for Labor this election. I think they're doing a great job and we need some stability.

I think a successive Labor government will continue to solidify confidence in SEQ, a change to Liberal might shake us a little, but it's not an overly dramatic election and there's no BIG policy platforms expected to affect residential property.

From a macro-economic, cultural and psychological perspective, Queensland elections mean a lot. It is a measurement of how the state has, or has not, progressed. The rest of the world has moved on.
The world's clients want security, education, good transport and intelligent people and leaders. Asia certainly does but Queensland fails to deliver. Victoria is the education and multicultural state. Queensland constantly features on the trashy ACA shows for crime and Queensland continues to be headquarters to parties such as One Nation. There are so many jokes here about hicks but the trillion dollar markets in Asia really look at Queensland in that way; and not with any humour.
For humour, the rest of the world turns to Malcolm Roberts who can outsmart any professional in any field, at any time Roberts has full credibility now that he is a legitimately proven liar.
Despite the number of times Hanson fails over the last couple of decades and looks to deride others (now having good traction with Muslims) and despite the controversy over the stupid, stupid people with who she will partner, a reported one in five Queensland will support PHON policies.
When Queensland is ready to join the rest of the world, the rest of the world will respond by thinking more highly of it. That is when you will have demand, credibility and desirability.
Disclaimer: I own IPs in QLD.

Nice balanced opinion....:p But I’m old enough to remember the 90s recession with huge numbers of Victorians moving here. The wheel turns.

If living in a progressive state means voting for economic vandals like Adam Bandt and the Greens then you can have it.

Silly to throw stones, last time I checked Apex were running amok in Melbourne.

    Tip.. Don’t watch trashy TV.
