So the QLD elections are on the 31st of October. Pre-polling is now open. Who are you voting for and who do you think will win?

I think it's a close run thing between Labor majority and Labor minority with Greens guaranteeing confidence. It feels like with the youth curfew announcement, the LNP have given up gaining seats in Brisbane and will settle for a minority Labor government. Just a small disclaimer, I didn't predict the 2015 or 2017 results correctly.

Looking over the wall from down south I expect a confident labor win. Pre-covid I would have expected a different outcome. People not seeking change now and happy to continue with a poor government instead of an unknown one.

We need a change, not sure we will get it. ALP have had a couple of terms now, just keeping it steady as she goes. My feeling is we need some more action, the economy needs a kick now more than ever, not another term of an ALP government afraid to rock the boat.

I think Labor will probably win due to Covid fear narrative factor and the opposition probably not cutting through. If the election was held, say next May when government payments dried up, then different story.
Queensland now has the highest unemployment and the economy thrives on tourism and retail and this is being destroyed. Queensland does need a change but won’t get it. Interestingly the only person who could influence voters is big Clive with his mega campaigns.

Clive Palmer's United Australian Party will be who I'm voting for,as the challenge for Queensland and Australia in the coming months as the risk is rising daily,is to figure out how best to live with coronavirus..

It’s really doing my heading. Up until two months ago I was set to vote Liberal. Until the ads started...

The rego rebate from Liberals makes me cringe. Sounds like a vote buying. In fact, instead of running ads about how economy will be fixed I’m seeing the $300 in your pocket ****. Disgusting.

On the other hand, gotta give Labour credit for managing COVID. Well done. Also gotta give them credit for ***** (in my opinion) economy and stratospheric unemployment rate (Italians be jelly).

Both parties are not overly appealing with any amazing ideas..... eh eh eh

Can't believe Labor still can't share their plans Re Finance.
Or maybe they did, get the Doctors and Nurses to work harder?

I've heard reports that Clive is running a scare campaign (again) against Labor, saying that there will be a death tax. Is that happening?

I’m in one of those marginal seats (state and federal). Amazing the love and attention we are getting from all sides

Looking back too when Sir -Joh in 1977 announced the removal of the state death duties that cost the Qld State 0ver 30 million in revenue ,and on the surface that decision made a lot of sense..

Fast track too today, that's what the media is saying but i'm in no hurry to find out..imho..

I will be glad when its all over.......... the sandpit can go to being semi normal again.

Im in a seat that was won by the ALP by a very slim margin, and the myopic folks that insist that they want a dictatorship of their flavour of party is wearing thin.

Feel very much the same way about the $300 rego rebate. I just felt disgusted - like they were trying to slip me a bribe. And how the hell is an extra $300 in car owner's pockets going to get the economy moving?

One of my boys and his girlfriend were voting for the first time, and were really disappointed at the lack of substance and detail of policies for the two major parties. Welcome to politics in modern Australia, kids. Seems to get worse each year.

Chatting with a retiree up in Noosa yesterday, she didn't even know when the election is being held nor if it was just Qld or other states as well - did have an excuse though, she doesn't vote.

I think Labor will win by majority (just).

LNP should have romped it in frankly, but the combination of Covid and a lacklustre LNP leader/policy platform will mean 4 more years of the ALP running the show up here.
