DHHF changes are very positive, dropping the bonds, lower Australian equities exposure and better structured for tax efficiency by using underlying ETFs.

There is some tax drag from ex-US assets held in US ETFs, but that only makes the cost about the same as VDHG.

Hard to predict what Vanguard might do, but given the size of VDHG and the underlying wholesale fund (total $3.7B AUM), I doubt they would just drop the 10% bonds. In Canada, I believe they eventually opened a separate 100% equities fund.

Vanguard might respond by lowering the MER on VDHG

@sfdoddsy: are you investing in VDHG directly with Vanguard (e.g. high growth fund) ?

    Hey guys,

Not sure if anyone here uses the wallet investor site for any insights? Apparently they have an algorithm to forecast stock prices; 3mth, 1yr, 5yrs...etc There is limited info they provide for free otherwise you need to pay for a subscription.

Here is my confusion, I've just searched VDHG and future forecasts all comes up red...even their 5 yr forecast is -12.51%.... Whereas when I search for all the underlying ETF's they are all in green with forecasted positive gains... Such as:

    5Yr Forecast +/- %
    VAS +19.87%
    VGS +33.64%
    VGAD +25.45%
    VBND +0.20%
    VSO +16.17%
    VGE +24.81%
    VAF +11.45%

How can that be? My limited knowledge tells me that if all the underlying ETF's do well, then VDGH should? Have I missed something?

As a side note, I also researched VDGR and that actually is foretasted to gain +16.86% which actually adds to my confusion?

Let me tell you, if they had an algorithm that forecasted what the market was going to do with any accuracy what so ever they wouldn't be putting it out on the internet for a subscription fee let alone free.

In saying that, for a small subscription fee I can give you access to my special algorithm that provides a forecast of what the market might possibly do. Once I receive the payment in the mail I will come back on here and tell you what the markets next possible move will be. :D

Disclaimer: You will notice the word possible used in my prediction over and over again. And as we all know anything is possible.

Is there any merit to investing in both VDHG (90/10) and VDGR (70/30)? Does anyone else invest in both?

By investing in both 50/50.. would I be effectively creating a hybrid 80/20 mix?

I'm not in to complication. It's messy. What is your answer to your question?

Probably simpler to just invest in DHHF @100% equities and a separate bond fund that you can vary at various life stages

Its a good place to start with VDHG, you can tweak as you go along. How did you go through Feb/March?

check closely to see if you are buying ( ASX) trade-able ETFs or the stuff you are buying can only be sold to Vanguard ( and their associates )

    cheers
