Wow... I can't believe how many "haters" & doubters there are about this story.... even here on PC!

Anyone that can throw in their day job by the ripe old age of 28 deserves a bit of respect & credit. Sure, he hasn't accumulated a net worth or cashflow like some here.... but he is only 28! He now has something very very very few people, even here on PC, can claim.... TIME. Lots of it too.

Congratulations @Tony Fleming ..... just remember that haters are gunna hate. That's just who they are. You however, are an inspiration!:)

Scrutiny and criticism are two very different things.

This forum is read by many young or novice investors. When anyone posts claims here which are erroneous, why shouldn't the numbers be scrutinised fairly? Not free for all , boots and all put downs - but fair and reasonable , qualified, factual scrutiny? It's the correct and appropriate way for the forum to weigh up the numbers being put forward. This is a property forum!

And this is exactly what has occurred here. Tony has bought 13 properties. He has been applauded for that. Well done to him. But Tony has also claimed that semi retirement is possible and the article clearly implies 130K of income is being generated. This is a misrepresentation.

When Tony, or anyone else (myself included) is seeking to build a business from either press releases or magazine articles or forum posts, and they are seeking to do that by demonstrating what they have achieved, so that clients will approach them and pay them to assist them to do the same, don't we have the right to comment when what they are representing is one thing, but is in fact another? Dont we also have a broader duty to the forum to do so? Specifically, to other less experienced , younger, novice readers?

It's entirely acceptable that the 13 property acquisition can be applauded, while simultaneously pointing out that the claimed passive income isnt what it pretends to be.

Whats with all this "haters" stuff. A real easy line that shuts down any discussion whatsoever. So the choice is either between wonderous ***********ing or asking some questions to get the real numbers and situation instead of the sales spin....the latter, which I would have thought is prudent and the actions of a smart investor is labelled a "hater". lol.

    More yank celebrity culture nonsense......

I think just about everything that can be said has been said. Probably time to close the thread now, before it degenerates into any more mud-slinging.

Congratulations Tony on what you have achieved so far. You have a larger portfolio than most here. Perhaps in future, just be certain that every i is dotted and every t is crossed when you engage with journalists in order to generate some coverage.

Other that that - keep doing what you are doing. 10 - 15 years from now , when your rental yields mature and you pay down all your debt from the sale of some of your properties, you will be fully retired.

With due respect Euro ...... this is a commercial forum and keeping business members accountable is all about asking the right questions and not many people do and there many reasons why ie newbie etc. Then it comes down to whether they will ignore or answer questions... good luck with that one. If they ignore the hard questions......red flag....

At the end of the day we are responsible for our own actions, its up to us to do the homework, and its not hard to work out.

I got burnt using a so called respected business member... buyer beware...don't believe everything you read..
Of course not everyone is painted with the same brush.

I don't really understand your point MTR. You are agreeing with me regarding holding members accountable for the information they post.

Perhaps your post was meant for the members posting within this thread who seem to believe that scrutiny should not be applied to other members claims? Or who believe that the scrutiny applied within this thread was somehow unfair or biased ?

Either way, you appear to agree with what I have been saying , which is - if you come on here to generate business ( and that's fine, as you said its a commercial forum) just make sure you have your numbers straight. Expect to have your numbers scrutinised.

I agree people should be accountable in particular if they are using this forum to sell a product, but how do you hold people accountable?? Impossible, that is my point. there is no PC Police.

You point out the holes in their numbers, then wait for the fanboys to rush to their defence :)

Exactly the same way you would elsewhere.

We provide a platform which brings people together and define a set of rules for what behaviour and activity is appropriate. What people choose to do on the site is up to them - including who they choose to talk to or even do business with.

We provide no advice and do not warrant that everything people say is correct. Exactly like in real life.

Basically, do your own due diligence.

If anything, that due diligence process is easier here than anywhere else because we have a pool of people who are interacting and dealing with each other and have had personal experience and can make recommendations.

Get to know people, learn whose opinion you can trust, and then use their opinion to judge the validity of what other people say.

Never rely on the opinion of someone you've never met, nor have personal recommendations for without getting to know them better first so you can make your own judgement.

    Exactly like real life.

Perfect, that is my point, perhaps not delivering it clearly...

Its an excellent platform for like minded people but the buck stops with us, we are responsible for our own actions, DD etc.

That's what euro is saying. He pointed to some issues he saw with the numbers, and various people didn't like that, as if being successful at a young age gives you exemptions from scrutiny. And then there were people who tried to fling mud and call him spammer. Rather over the top.

One thing I've noticed about PC, some people on here big note themselves on their great techniques and methodology but then make very vague and useless postings. Euro provides detailed useful postings and isn't coy when asked questions. He posts numbers, if you have problems with the numbers, post a dissenting analysis.

I agree and worse provide no numbers

I think there is confusion, it's easy to be misconstrued on a forum.. I agree with Euro

    Happy investing everyone:)

Yikes...just read those comments. I hate to say it but this is just a symptom of the 'it's all too hard' culture that has affected prospective first home buyers of late.
