Suggestion: get rid of the "like" thing, makes me feel like I'm a teen on fakebook and also avoids *********** which should be nipped in the bud.

You can already do this now, via your "News Feed" (click on your name / cog and then on Your News Feed in the menu):

    upload_2018-1-2_19-9-11.png

... alternatively, just go here: https://www.propertychat.com.au/community/account/news-feed

This shows you recent activity from people you follow - which is exactly the point of "following" people - so that they appear in that feed.

I use it extensively on some other forums I use (eg the XenForo forums where we discuss the forum software!) where there are a high volume of posts but I only really want to see the important stuff, ie posts made by the developers and a few members I know post useful/interesting things.

That's not going to happen. I've been thoroughly unimpressed with the way they run their business and the quality of the software they operate.

The new version of the software has been optimised for a mobile experience and will work really well on all devices - including all of the customisations we have built for the PropertyChat platform, which you would miss out on by using an app like Tapatalk.

Interesting to hear that as I use it a fair bit for another forum I visit and from a front end perspective I really quite like it. Maybe i'm weird but currently I think its just a little too busy. I'm always having to re-login as well. I am not sure if this is a bug or not.

Nonetheless great forum, appreciating all you do and looking forward to whats next!

You mean on mobile? That's always going to be a challenge - there's a lot of stuff to fit into a small screen.

As mentioned - the next version of the forum software has been rewritten from the ground up with a much stronger focus on mobile devices - so hopefully you'll find some improvements there.

    That shouldn't happen.

Are you checking the "Stay logged in" box when logging in? My experience is that problems logging in or staying logged in are usually a result of cookie issues. You could try deleting all cookies relating to the propertychat.com.au domain and see if that helps.

Thanks. I have had a number of drop-outs from my logged in session as well on my mobile. I thought it was the rather outdated Samsung S4 I was using or hopeless internet connection at the time.

Definitely check the box every time but i'll have a crack at clearing the cookies.

Stronger focus on mobile devices sounds ace!

A new tab for strata - plenty of questions about/for strata managers, strata insurance, strata issues, strata subdivision, by-laws, in-laws, common areas, parking, smoking, pets, noisy/nosey neighbours, trees (who doesn't have them), builders warranty etc

@Simon Hampel - are we getting the ability to favorite a post that’s got valuable information? Would make it easier than finding the needle in a huge haystack of some of these threads

I don't think it's in the functionality we're getting with the next release (which won't really add much in the way of new features) - but I'm pretty sure there's already been a suggestion for this type of functionality - will look into it.

+1. I would like to favourite some posts - some have timeless info worth rereading or referring to.

    @Simon Hampel

Any chance of this being implemented?
A way to ignore certain topics and entire sections to save time from sifting through threads to find the ones that are of interest? It's just a never ending sifting process every single time I open PC. I can't be the only one.

As I said - it's on my TODO list, but so are a heap of other things. I'm moving ahead with integrating InvestChat and BusinessChat in with PropertyChat, but that will only work if people who are not interested in those topics can easily ignore them to avoid the clutter they will bring. So it is important and it will happen - but there's a heap of other work I have to do first before I can build that - including upgrading to the new forum software.

I think this is a great idea. I don't add much value to the site but it's my morning ritual with a coffee before I start work, I like the breadth of topics that are appearing now (not just property) and like to read more about shares and business but to be honest I rarely think to head to Invest or Business chat, then add in the new or different usernames people have on those sites and it becomes too much like hard work to get a handle on it. I'd live to fire up my PC on a morning, hit New Posts and see the whole lot from PChat, Business and Invest chat all there.

This will probably be the polar opposite of what most want from the site, but I enjoy the forum as much for the interesting threads on ALL kinds topics, not just property. I loathe Facebook and I've been a member of many specialist forums over the years and always enjoyed the banter but the forums (based on their main topic) were usually weighted in favor of the simple minded shall we say, so I really enjoy the general threads from generally smart people.

It's amazing the amount of knowledge you pick up on a myriad of different things just from reading people real life experiences.

It would be great if there was an app.

I find the mobile site works fine. It loses some detail but in Chrome on Android its pretty good.
