A site this complex doesn't get built without some serious technical skill behind it :p

IT "buff" isn't how I'd describe myself ... I've worked in IT for over 24 years now

... that being said, I'm spending less and less time on the IT side of things and more and more on the business side these day.

I'm rapidly getting to the point where I'll need to step away from the technical side completely.

We're only just scratching the surface of what we can achieve - both as a website and as a community.

Uummm, all three potentially.. I used to record it under the FOOD category in Reckon Personal Plus. Needless to say the Food category was a major expense item:).

Although some of those on the “What’s Cheap on the ASX” Thread might consider it comes under the category of “Stress Management” at the moment:D.

    more of an overarching comment.

you have propertychat, investchat and businesschat, etc.
I think they could all be integrated better.
the same login/user profile for all.
the small business section on property chat, could be the actual General Business Chat section in businesschat.com.au.

it would encourage users to move around the other *chat forums, create a larger community overall.

But then how would @Simon Hampel get 3 or more sets of business/premium memberships off some forumites?;)

You can already do a form of single-sign-on by setting up each of your accounts to use social media logins (eg log in with Facebook / Google / Twitter) - that makes it trivial to log on to any of the sites, provided you are already logged in to your social media account.

However, there wouldn't be any other integration between the sites - that just makes logon easy.

That being said - with the upcoming new software version, I am revisiting the structure of my sites and am investigating whether I can effectively merge the three sites together - but still keep a level of separation such that for people who aren't interested in shares/funds discussions don't get their "New Posts" feed cluttered with threads they don't care about - similarly for business discussions.

Will require quite a bit of planning and development work to make that all hang together correctly - but I think it may help.

Especially since we have so many stubborn members here on PropertyChat who refuse to go and post on InvestChat or BusinessChat ... so if Muhammad won't go to the mountain, then the mountain must come to Muhammad! :p

Anyway - it's still in the idea stage.

Whatever you do, please don't make it reliant on having a Facebook or Twitter account.

Absolutely not - the social media login facilities are completely optional. You won't ever have to use them if you don't want to.

I thought of something else while on the road.

what about a feature which allows members to 'tip' premium members for useful posts.
the tip could be the standard member paying x dollars which extends their premium membership some amount.
    similar to reddit gold.

I have found many useful posts which have saved me seeking professional services.
It would also encourage higher quality content.

As directed, @Simon Hampel do you have plans for posters to rate a topic? The number of views of each thread can indicate the popularity but if we are able to rate, it would be better IMHO.

Is it possible to have a list that shows new posts from people you follow like watched threads for people followed?
